I just needed a place to vent and I though AH! my livejournal! Last night I went to a seminar. The instructor was negative and complaining the whole night. At the end of the session we were asked to fill out a satisfaction survey. Anonymously. Yeah right. How can something be anonymous when there are only 6 people sitting around the same table and handing in the form to the instructor. Now, normally I would have just written my opinion and not worry about it. But I have this instructor for at least one more seminar. I'd hate to not only have to listen to her negativity again but have her KNOW that I think she's negative the entire time. Maybe I'll get brave enough to write what I really think next time...

So I'm driving along in the rain when my two girls start telling each other knock-knock jokes. The only thing is, Gloria is 3 1/2 and Diana is 2, so they only kinda get it. This is what I hear: G: Knock Knock then D: Knock Knock and then finally, this gem: D: Knock Knock Even I laughed at that one.

Ok I have a huge confession to make. Up until two weeks ago I had never ever ever seen an episode of Firefly. Someone recently loaned me the boxed set. Now I am sad because there just weren't enough episodes.

The only place I've ever pitched darts was a bar. And most of my friends who shoot pool do so in bars. Or poolhalls where beer is served. So why is it that we give people alcohol at the same time we give them pointy implements of death or long sticks?? One of those things that makes me go, "hmmm." |

You know those period piece on PBS? The ones, where the families sign on to live in an English manor, or on a farm or something? Well, I've just figured out why I am NOT on one of those. Faced with the prospect of spending a day confined indoors with my children, I'm panicked! What am I going to do today? No gym class, no long walks outside, no running around the backyard trying to stay warm, no shopping mall expeditions... Guess it's going to be play-doh to the rescue! And the trusty dress-up box... And maybe some home-baked cookies...

Ok Everyone... I'm putting this out there for public support/ridicule... I'm doing the whole, New Year lose weight thing. To th is end, I've joined WeightWatchers (online)... Since I'm doing WW online, I figure I might as well ask for support online too... Thanks guys!

Normally I'm the first one to complain when someone massacres the English language. It's perhaps my primary pet peeve. Now, I'm fine with the occasional error, it happens to all of us. I'm all for creative use of the language when it helps to support an idea, storyline, etc. However, in general, "grammar good, no grammar bad." With that said, I am completely amazed and impressed by my daughter Gloria (3 on 1/12/07). Any place someone would normally use the word "well" she places "goodly." Now, the thing I find fascinating about this is that it shows me that she really has a grasp on this language. She somehow knows that an "ly" ending (usually) makes a word an adverb. She knows what an adverb modifies. Ok, I know it's not the right word for her to use, but it's still intriguing that the mind picks up the language this way... Wonder what else she's already figured out? Makes me shudder... (PS - Yes, I know I'm leaving myself open for grammatical correction and I use ellipses way too often!!!)

Just wanted to wish all my friends a Happy "end of December." I don't know if I'll be posting again this week with Christmas coming up. With the children this may very well be the busiest time of the year of all! Happy Hanukkah! Hope I didn't miss anything!!

Just curious, anyone else watching the Lost Room on the SciFi channel? My hubby watched 10 minutes, complained about the poor acting and went to bed. I, on the other hand, have been compelled to see how it plays out. Now, I'm not saying he was wrong and that the acting is good (because it's not really) but there's something compelling about the whole concept and I'm curious... (wow, what a crummy post, I've used both curious and compel twice!)
